Biography

Julian Drain is best known for playing the drums in the Finnish rock band Lovex which he joined and completed back in 2004.

Born in March 1988, Julian is the youngest of four siblings. His older brother Jimmy Drain (Bitch So Sweet, MyFate, Katra) plays the drums, too and has been an influence on Julian´s musical development, as well as on his choice of stage name. "Julian" is, as most of us know, only an alias and his real name has been long known among the fans. He often also goes by the names Juke and Julle.

Besides his brother, Julian idolizes other world-known drummers, among them José Pasillas (Incubus) and Joey Jordison (Slipknot). In the early days of Lovex he was well known for being a devoted Incubus freak ;) Other bands he listens to include e.g. Foo Fighters, Placebo, The Smashing Pumpkins, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age and others.

After finishing school in 2007, Julian was finally able to move from his parents´ place in Ikaalinen to Tampere and could fully concentrate on his musical career with Tampere-based Lovex ever since.  In the past 3 years, he achieved a lot with Lovex, hit the charts, successfully toured through several European countries and even played in Japan.

Julian proved his talent on the guitar during the last Germany tour when he left his drum kit and performed several cover songs by bands such as Oasis, Foo Fighters and Smashing Pumpkins in an acoustic showcase together with Theon.

Julian used to describe himself as a "shy little drummerboy" but it seems he grew out of that role. Nowadays he´s the chatty, outgoing one who spends more time with the fans after the gigs than any of the other band members do. That and his general friendly and easy going behavior make him so popular among the fanbase.

Looking back on the past 5 years, it´s more than obvious that Julian grew a lot as a person and a musician. Because of that the future sounds promising and we are looking forward to following and supporting the steps he is going to take.
